I originally thought to use this page for my favorite
links to other sites but too many people already use a wonky
spelling to represent "links" which just makes it more
difficult to parse out the BS from real stuff if you rely on
a search engine like I do. |

When Lynx are young they actually look more like little foxes except for the missing tails. When they get older they start looking less cute and a little demented. The bad boy above looks like he could cheerfully rip your face off and chuckle while he eats it. In reality he probably would take one look at a human and move away at maximum speed. You would never know he was even there. |

Lynx have very colorful coats for creatures that survive
because of adaptive coloration. The cat at the left shows
the typical warm weather color and patterns that make them
all but invisible except when moving. |

I found this picture a while back and still haven't found out how it was done. Everything I have read suggests this wouldn't happen in nature since Lynx tend to be solitary and like many of the smaller wild cat species very aggressive. I can only conclude that the picture was probably taken in some kind of wildlife preserve where predators like Lynx learn unnatural behaviors. |
